Cowboy Poetry

Yee-haw!  Meet us at the Ace Stillwater Civic Center for a Friends of the Library lunch fundraiser at 11:30 am and cowboy poetry at 12:15 pm.  Check back for updated participating poets!

Cowboy poetry is rooted in the oral tradition of telling stories in the American west about ranch life and cowboy lifestyle that evolved into a distinct form of verse.  It often follows a traditional rhyming and meter, but modern poets may utilize free form poetry but emphasize storytelling and rhythm.  Cowboy poetry often includes themes of nature, western experiences, humor and spirituality.
