Summer Reading: Color Our World

June 4 - July 9

From June 4th to July 9th, explore how the senses color our world for kids and adults alike! This summer, gear up to unearth geological marvels, unleash your inner artist, taste a tale, strum through an instrument petting zoo, and sniff out a story.

Kids who read beat the “summer slide” and retain more of their academic skills for the following school year.  Make reading a breeze with us!  We hope to encourage a love of reading through fun presentations, colorful activities and connections with our community.  Adventure awaits!

The following events are part of Summer Reading; click on the event image for more information.

Our outreach program brings summer reading to a community center near you.  Click the event image to see what days the Friends of the Library will visit your town.  For ages 0-13.

Earn tickets by completing reading logs and attending summer reading programs.  Reading logs are available for pick-up in the library.  Fill out your ticket with your name and phone number, and place in the prize jars located in the library.  All ages may participate.  On July 16th after Storytime, we will draw prize winners; need not be present to win.  Click event image to see full list of prizes.

The library is rolling out the red carpet for student art submissions from elementary, middle, high school, and even undergrads! Get your masterpieces in by May 30th to join the creative jamboree. And don’t forget to scoop up your art after the stroll—it’s available for collection until June 10th!  As you peruse our student gallery, jump into our community craft! We’re whipping up an art bouquet, because a community that colors together, blooms together!

Join us for a free community art mural with Beth Korth from Tippet Rise.  The adult session (for ages 16+) begins at 9:30 am, and the children’s session begins at 10:30 am.  We will provide all the materials.  Pre-registration is required for this event, please click event image to RSVP.
