Welcome to Summer Reading 2026: Unearth a Story.  “Whether readers are digging into a good book, uncovering hidden histories, or exploring the past, [Unearth a Story] underscores the joy of discovery that reading brings.  It also emphasizes that every person and every community has stories waiting to be found and shared-through books, programs, and local knowledge.” – CSLP

This year’s theme, materials, slogans and programing ideas are thanks to Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP).  We would like to thank the Town Pump Charitable Foundation and Friends of Stillwater County Library for providing funding for this year’s program, and donations from patrons like you, thank you.

Our six-week summer reading program runs from May 27th through July 2nd, providing interactive programs for all ages, take and make crafts, reading incentives, and several raffle prizes.  Our goal is to create authentic community-based summer services and encourage reading and literacy all year long.

Every Wednesday during our usual Storytime hour, we will have presentations aimed for children 0-12 years old (but all ages are welcome to attend).  We will have additional programs for teens and adults, including crafts, author presentations, book clubs and more!  We will also have outreach programs presented by Friends of Stillwater County Library in Rapelje, Park City, Absarokee, and Fishtail to bring Summer Reading to a community center near you!  For every event you attend you receive one raffle ticket.  Check out upcoming events below.

A key goal to Summer Reading is of course, reading!  Reading for just 20 minutes a day can boost vocabulary, academic performance, and cognitive development.  In adults, daily reading reduces the risk of memory loss and builds emotional regulation.  Pickup reading logs at the library or get the Beanstack App to help set goals and keep track of you or your child(ren)’s reading.  As you progress, earn badges and redeem them for prizes and raffle tickets at the library.

Every summer we have several raffle prizes, including books, art supplies, STEAM kits and more.  Earn tickets by filling out reading logs and participating at events.  Write your name and phone number on each ticket and put it into the prize jar of your choice.  The more tickets you earn the better chance you have at winning.  The last day to enter tickets is June 27th.  The winners will be announced after the Zoo Montana Presentation, July 2nd at 10:30 am at the Ace Stillwater Civic Center, you need not be present to win.  Minors must pick up prizes with an adult caretaker present.

If you have any questions about Summer Reading events, reading logs or prizes please call us at 406-322-5009 or email us at slibrary@stillwatercountylibrary.org.
